Research programs:

Since the Department was established research projects were connected with anesthesiology, rentgenology of gastrointestinal tract, bones development and bone fractures in small animals. Few years later Department conducted new surveys which were aimed at bovine orthopedical disorders, mostly hoof problems. Later on, experiments were focused on hepatic and pancreatic ducts and improvement of evacualtion of gall and pancreatic juice. The latter research provided the possibility to invent two nwe methods of pancreatic duct canulation. In clinical trials Department established new methods of ligamentoplasty and external stabilization of long bone fractures. Endoscopic methods were evaluated and habituated into small animal practice. The newest directions of modern surgery and orthopedy are laparoscopy and arthroscopy, which are also the areas of Department’s interest. Currently, Department works at methods of impalantation of autologic and allogenic chondral implants and the techinique of mosaicoplasty in treatment of articular cartilage defects. There are research aimed at laser biostymulation and its influence on chemical encoding of spinal cord motoneurons.
