Historical outline 

The Department has changed its name several times in its history. At the time of its establishment it was the Department of Veterinary Microbiology (1966-1970), then the Department of Veterinary Microbiology of the Institute of Infectious and Invasive Diseases (1970-1986), the Department of Veterinary Microbiology (1986-1999), the Department of Clinical Microbiology and Immunology (1999-2003), the Clinical Microbiology and Immunology Team of the Department of Infectious and Invasive Diseases (2003-2008), and since 2008 - the Department of Clinical Microbiology and Immunology. The Department was established in 1966, its organization and management was entrusted to Associate Professor Zdzislaw Larski. Scientific and research work began in 1967, while teaching work began in 1968. In 1967-1970 the Department was located in Block 23, for the next seven years in the New Zootechnics building in Kortow I, while since 1985 it has occupied premises in Block 105 in Kortow II. Each change of location was associated with an increase in the area occupied and better equipment in research apparatus.
