Clinical and Laboratory Diagnostics

Lectures:
Introduction to clinical and laboratory diagnostics. Status Presens. Clinical diagnostics of skin diseases, respiratory diseases, cardiovascular diseases, diseases of the digestive system, nervous system diseases, diseases of the urinary system. Obtaining and preparing biological material for the laboratory examinations. Storage and transportation of samples for laboratory tests. The organization of the veterinary laboratory. Diagnostic methods used in the laboratory diagnostics of internal diseases.

Practice:
Introduction. Methods and procedures of clinical examination. Techniques of controlling animals.Clinical examination of lymphatic nodes and mucous membranes. Clinical examination of upper and lower airways. Clinical examination of alimentary system, probing of esophagus and stomach using a tube. Examination per rectum. Medical history of patient – anamnesis. Description of patient – signalement/generalia. Status presens – general part: -Structure, condition, constitutional type, behavior (position, placement, consciousness, facial expression, gaze, ingestion of food and water, voice, walk). Body temperature, fever, pulse, breaths. Mucous membranes, lymphatic nodes, eyes. Skin: Clinical examination of skin, hairs, claws, hoofs. Additional examinations in dermatology. Airways: Breath, rhinorrhea, nasal meatus, sinuses, larynx, trachea, cough. Clinical examination of chest – inspection/viewing, auscultation, percussion. (Borders of lungs) (In details – resonances, dullness, murmurs). Puncture of pleural cavity – indications and methods. Cardiovascular/circulatory system: Clinical examination of heart – inspection/viewing, auscultation, percussion. Electrocardiography.
