Department of Clinical Diagnostics was established April 16, 1966, as part of Veterinary Hospital. The first Head of the Department was Dr. Zofia Markiewicz. In 1970, the Department of Clinical and Laboratory Diagnostic joined to the structure of the Institute of Noninfectious Diseases. After the organizational changes in 1983, Diagnostics Division entered into the structure of the Department of Internal Medicine.1 October 1989, following the retirement of Professor. Zofia Markiewicz,  Head of the Department was dr. prof. Andrzej Depta. After the reorganization 1 October 2003, the unit became an independent Division of Clinical Diagnostics in Department of Clinical Sciences. 30 October 2009, the Division of Clinical Diagnostics has been transformed by Senate resolution into the Department of Clinical Diagnostics. Head of Department is Professor Andrzej Rychlik.
