According to resolution of education prime minister from 16.04. 1996 Internal Medicine Department of Agricultural School was established. In 1970- 1983 it was renamed for Internal Medicine Department of Non-infectious Diseases Institute. Between 1983-2003 it was functioning as an Internal Medicine Department with Clinical Diagnostics Institute. In 1979 the department was enlarged with new buildings at Kortowo II. The head of department between 1966-1986 was prof. Dr hab. Kazimierz Markiewicz. In 1987-2011 the head became prof. Dr hab. Zygmunt Kuleta; in 2011 the head of Department became prof. Dr hab. Andrzej Pomianowski.
After reorganisation of Veterinary Medicine Faculty in 2003 Department of Clinical sciences was established, among which Internal Medicine Department was created. Within 40 years of existence, Internal Medicine Department had 33 employees, among which there were 3 professors, 2 assistant professors, 14 adiuncts (phd), 15 assistants, 6 phd students, 43 technical staff (among which 1 doctor of veterinary medicine (phd)), 4 doctors of veterinary medicine, 9 masters of pharmacy, zootechnicians, 3 physical workers. In 2005 the Department was renovated using European funds.
